As a wedding planner I have seen my fair share of unexpected weather on wedding day. However, at Shelby and Parker's Lake Tahoe fall wedding we saw it all- rain, wind, sun and even a surprise snowstorm. The couple chose to tie the knot, on a mountaintop setting with a STUNNING view of Lake Tahoe as the backdrop, at the Chart House in Stateline, NV. Despite the unpredictable weather it made for the most dreamy photos. Lucky for us the weather gave us exactly what we need it when we needed. Rain in the morning while everyone was inside getting ready, a gentle breeze for the first look, sunshine for the outdoor ceremony, and a surprise snowstorm during the couples sunset photos. What more could we have asked for!
How did you meet your spouse?
Bumble! Isn't that how everyone is meeting these days? Right after the world shut down for covid, we took the risk & we're so glad we did! Funny story we actually both worked at the same airport but had no idea until the app brought us together. I was a flight attendant for American Airlines and Parker was a police officer at the airport.
How did they pop the question?
The Bride: Everyone lied to me! I don't even know who to trust anymore! I was told I needed to fly home to San Diego to clean out my childhood home closet. My now husband came with me on the trip. Why would you ever want to go on a vacation to clean?!! As a reward we had dinner reservations at a nice restaurant. He took me down to the bay to view the San Diego skyline before dinner, which I had already seen a million times... and the next thing I knew, he was down on one knee. Our family and a photographer were hiding in the bushes! So cute! So perfect! :)
What is your wedding style?
We went for a romantic, elegant and timeless design. We choose dusty blue as our wedding color mixed with shades of white, blush, and gold. We also incorporated darke greenery into the flower agreements to bring out the green of the Tahoe pine trees that sounded the venue. To add a touch of romance we had soft lighting and added candles to bring in a touch of warmth. One of the most meaningful gestures we made on our wedding day was reserving an open chair in the front row as a tribute to my beloved grandfather, who had recently passed away. He was a really important person in my life, and though he could not be with us physically, we felt his spirit. It was a simple yet profound way to honor his memory, and it brought a sense of comfort and warmth to our hearts on this special day. We also incorporate old family wedding pictures on our welcome table at the reception. Guest enjoyed seeing how wedding fashion has changed over the years.
When it came to your venue selection, why did you choose to get married at the Chart House?
The Chart House was perfect for us. We had a smaller wedding so we didn't want a huge space where we needed to find things to fill up the space. The Chart House accommodated all 58 people comfortably. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all located at the same location which was a huge plus. They offered top notch food and drinks. But what sold us was the stunning views of gorgeous Lake Tahoe!
What was the best part of your day?
Marrying my husband but also THE snowstorm!! While a snowstorm on your wedding day might may seem like a disaster waiting to happen but it added such a unique touch. Our wedding venue tuned into a winter wonderland, creating a breathtaking backdrop for photos.
What made you choose Reno Tahoe Enchanted Events to coordinate your wedding?
We wanted to make sure the day ran organized and everything went smoothly. We also didn't want to ask our family or friends to do anything! Parker and I live in Texas so planning a destination wedding so far away we knew we needed some help. Amanda at Reno Tahoe Enchanted Events is Tahoe local wedding planning expert. I was able to relax the morning of my wedding and hangout with my girls. That wouldn’t have been possible without Amanda & her team’s help!
If you could provide a tip to another couple planning their wedding, what would it be?
Keep is simple. The extras aren't entirely necessary. Feed and water your people and they will all be happy!
Despite the unpredictable weather, this Lake Tahoe fall wedding was truly a magical experience. The changing weather only added to the romance and beauty of the day, and it was a day that the couple and their guests will never forget. Congratulations to Shelby & Parker on a beautiful wedding and cheers to a lifetime of love and happiness!
